The Problem

Plastic and other discarded items escape waste collection infrastructures and enter the natural environment. This can have detrimental effects on the environment and animals.

Most plastic in the ocean comes from land-based sources and most of this is the result of a lack of appropriate waste management infrastructure. For example, a lack of public bins resulting in littering or a reliance on uncontrolled dumpsites.

This can have detrimental effects on our environment and is also a terrible waste of resources. Plastic has no place in landfill and certainly not in the ocean or waterways - it's a valuable resource and should be collected so we can recycle it into new products or reclaim the energy.
